The Red Paper: Canids Up-dated  edition includes section on sarcoptic mange in foxes and treatment plus a list of wildlife sanctuaries and rescue centres in the UK.
By the 1700s the British fox was on the verge of extinction and about to follow the bear and wolf having been hunted for sport for centuries. The answer was to import thousands of foxes per year for sport. But foxes kept dying out so jackals were tried. Some were caught, some escaped. Even wolves and coyote were released for hunting.
The summation of over 30 years research reveals the damnable lie of “pest control” hunting but also reveals the cruelty the animals were subject to and how private menageries as well as travelling shows helped provide the British and Irish countryside with some incredible events.

There are evil bandits, soft-hearted saloon ladies, a heartbroken hero and of course the courage and righteousness of the Canadian Mounties. All the best from a good old-fashioned Western, only with red coats!

Ecco le date e il primo autore ospite di BilBOlbul 2018
Ciao,
sono arrivate le vacanze, finalmente. Ne avremo bisogno, perché da settembre c’è un festival da fare. E che festival. L’edizione di quest’anno sarà speciale per tanti motivi, e oggi vogliamo rivelarne uno. 
Ma prima, le date:
la XII edizione di BilBOlbul Festival Internazionale di Fumetto si terrà a Bologna dal 23 al 25 novembre 2018.
Un weekend di incontri, workshop, spettacoli e naturalmente mostre. 
La prima, che siamo davvero soddisfatti di annunciare, è la mostra monografica di Francesco Cattani. 
Tra gli autori più rilevanti degli ultimi anni, Cattani ha vinto il premio “Nuove Strade” del Napoli Comicon nel 2010 con Barcazza (Canicola Edizioni) ed è l’autore di Luna del mattino (Coconino Press – Fandango), riconosciuto come il migliore graphic novel italiano dello scorso anno.
Non solo Francesco Cattani sarà il protagonista di una mostra, ma sarà anche l’autore del manifesto di BilBOlbul 2018, che sveleremo a settembre.
Nel frattempo, possiamo dire che è una bomba e mostrarne in anteprima i bozzetti:
Sì, è un orso: il bilbolbear. Anche di lui diremo di più a settembre.

Ed Piskor – Hip Hop Family Tree (Panini 9L, 2016-18)
Il fumetto del mese è un documentario disegnato che ripercorre, con un lavoro di ricerca storica immenso, la genesi dell’hip hop. Finora ne sono usciti quattro volumi, che vanno dalla seconda metà degli anni ’70 al 1985 circa. Perfetto da leggere in spiaggia con la playlist giusta in sottofondo.
